PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To deliver outstanding service to our customers, elevating their mountain experience.
IMPORTANCE
Food and drink are the cornerstone of a great holiday.
Our customers come for the snow, but they return for the delicious food and service they receive in the cafe.
As a Konisu Cafe crew member, you are far more than just someone who serves great food & coffee.
You’ll work with a tight team to welcome customers to the cafe, matching their excitement created on the slopes.
You have a positive impact on the customers, the team, and on the growth and reputation of Konisu.
IN THIS ROLE
You will need to have great organization & team support skills.
- Customer Experience – great service, great food, great drinks, great energy.
Cortina Resort is the snow capital of the Hakuba Valley.People flock to Cortina Resort to experience deep snow – you’ll be surrounded by the excitement.Our customers love the cafe, and the way they can order delicious food & drinks without having to take their skis or boards off. They can refuel quickly, and get back on the chair lift.
At the cafe, you’ll greet customers, be excited about their experience, and provide suggestions for their order.
Make them feel welcome, take payment, prepare & deliver their order.
You’ll make consistent high quality coffees, as well as prepare food orders correctly.

At Konisu Cafe you’ll need to be considerate of others, have patience, be highly organized, work calmly under pressure and be great at learning and following systems & routines.A supportive team, and a systematic routine make delivering great experiences a breeze.For the most part you’ll always work alongside 1-3 other people, and be a part of a team of 10, working on a rotating roster.
You’ll support your team to learn and follow the Cafe systems, and protocols.
Great organization and communicating effectively with the team is a must.
- Cafe Organization & Set Up / Pack Down
Preparing the cafe for service in the morning:- Prepare espresso machine
- Clear Snow
- Prepare the pastry & pie display
- Make sandwiches
- Make pies
- Play music
- Hot water ready for tea
- Turn on POS and prepare the til
- Move snow from the ordering window
- Seats out of customers
Pack down the cafe at close:
- Clean espresso machine
- All food & beverages away
- Dishes
- Empty bins
- Clean floors
- Pack away outside seating
- Balance the POS/float
- Stock-take food/drink supplies
- Communicate stocktake to Mike
- Finish any other cleaning or organizing duties at hand.
You will be provided with all training required.
ISSUES TO ELIMINATE
- Poor food & drink stocktake and ordering
- Poor communication to the customers
- Poor communication between team, and to Mike, Emily, Jason, Kikko.
- Poor team work, not willing to help in other areas (food preparation & serving customers).
SUCCESS CRITERIA
- A positive impact on customers, as seen in online reviews.
- Consistent food & beverage quality – even under pressure
- Great communication and involvement in the team
- Use of initiative and foresight to resolve problems before they arise
- Consistent expansion of expertise – learning new skills, taking on new responsibilities
OTHER POTENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES
- Picking up new food & beverage stock
- Garbage disposal
- Collecting stock from one cafe location, and dropping it off to the other cafe
HOURS
We want to provide you with a steady routine through the winter.
And still provide you with time on the mountain!
This position at Konisu Cafe will provide you with that.
Due to the nature of the world at the moment, changes can come at any time, so at times you will be required to be flexible and supportive of changes.
Final roster is to be confirmed
Hours: 25+ per week
Shifts: 8:00-16:00 / 4 Days per week
4 x days per week at Konisu Cafe during peak season.
Your roster may be reduced to 3 days per week in less busy times.
